Abstract:
Title: An experimental archaeology workshop in strasbourg: lessons and results from reproducing two naked clay figurines dated to the end of the 3rd–early 2nd millennium BCE uncovered at Mari (Syria)
During the preparation of a colloquium on nude female terracotta figurines which took place in the University of Strasbourg, the idea of creating a workshop to reproduce antique figurines from the Mari site (Syria, late 3rd millennium-early 2nd millennium BCE) appeared to the author. It was proposed to a group of researchers and students. The main objectives are presented here, as well as the progress of activities, difficulties and successes. This experience could be useful to other archaeologists or specialists in terracotta figurines.
